FALL HIKE

Road Trip!! For a school lesson we went on a road trip with our friends to find fall weather. It wasn't weather like Oregon's fall, but it was a fun time and the kids learned a lot about nature. I was kinda surprised there was no color in the leaves at all. Max has always loved road trips- Spencer-well, he is better than he use to be in the car :)

We had story time, hikes, collected leaves and sticks, played in a creek, had a picnic. It was a busy and fun day!!
There was a woodpecker hole in a tree that fascinated the kids.

This was the first hike of the day. It was a mile hike up to see Indian ruins. When I asked Spencer if he had fun he said "yes, I fall down!" If he wasn't trying to run off the mountain he was falling. Max said he could see the whole world from up there. I love Oregon's green scenery, but have come to love the Desert scenery-minus the snakes...

On a windy day, you just have to go fly a kite!

It seems we never get good enough winds to fly a kite, but Saturday it was perfect kite day! Elbert had to go on the roof to find Spencer's kite then again for Max's, so we went to the park next door for a little more room. Then at the park the tree got our kite!! It finally did come down.
Time to go home :) pull Spencer!

Sir Maxwell doing his school work...

He is so silly! He put down the sword and shield, but kept his helmet on on for his vocabulary and phonics lesson :)

brotherly love...

Our boys love each other so much! I enjoy watching them play and have fun together. Spencer was watching Max's every move at baseball practice.

Spencer's spotlight

Spencer is growing so fast! He is close to being 2 1/2 years old now. He can count to 10 (well sometimes) and I love to hear him say his ABC's. In the video watch for his tongue for l-m-n-o-p its adorable! He can write his name with assistance but its still scribble :) and he does spell his name b-u-g. Max helps him all the time learn his numbers and alphabet. We film Max doing big boy stuff all the time and thought it was time to let Spencer shine. Spencer was so proud of his clip he watched it over and over counting and singing :)

Burnt offerings...

Whenever I bake or cook, if it so happens to burn-no worries because Elbert will always eat it, he never wastes food. I can thank the military for preparing Elbert to eat what ever a wife makes or attempts to make :)
So being conference weekend I thought a great day for waffles! When the first one was done I put it on a plate and said perfect! Max replied, the waffle is perfect? When I said yes, He replied Oh no you have to burn one for Dad! Elbert had to explain burn is really not his preference...so funny because I didn't think Elbert had to eat burned food that often!! But for some reason Max thinks that is how Elbert likes his food :) Maybe I do burn more than I would like to admit???

So I am happy I made it through a batch of batter with not a one burnt...I always burn the first one or forget about one sitting in there at some point!

What season is it??? I am confused!

It has been so HOT! The boys have been learning about fall for school time, and there is no fall weather around here! These are pictures at play group and it was melting hot-I think over 100 that day. I had to take a picture and post for all the Oregonians of the boys in swim suits playing at the park :) how cold has it been over there? Do you have coats and sweaters out yet???
